Private Cheese Appreciation Courses

We offer two different appreciation packages for cheese enthusiasts to choose from:

Cheese option 1: $60 per person

1 hour tasting

Minimum 8 people

A selection of 6 cheeses

Cheese option 2: $90 per person

2 hours tasting

Minimum 8 people

A selection of 12 cheeses

Topics of discussion for both options include:

  • The history of cheese
  • Types of milk
  • Milk and cheese ingredients
  • Cheese types and classifications- a look at the 7 different types of cheese
  • Categorising cheese (Unlike wine, cheese can be judged by its appearance)
  • Develop a cheese vocabulary
  • Processes in cheese-making, production techniques
  • Old and new world varieties
  • Basic cheese and wine pairings
  • Handling and storage
  • Myths and misconceptions of the cheese world

Whilst both options have similar course content, the subject matter, time and depth of discussion is relative to the package option chosen. So for the real cheese enthusiast I recommend at least a two hour class. The time flies!

All classes are provided with cheese (naturally), water, bread, crackers, cheese accompaniments, notes, pens, plates, glasses. Wine and or other beverages are an additional cost.
